Local Archaeology

In the past the members of LAHS have been involved in some significant local archaeology throughout the area.

The society itself has been less involved in recent years, but is there an interest in learning the skills ?

Historic Environment Scotland and Archaeology Scotland have resources to offer workshops, if we do.

There are also several professional and experienced amateur Archaeologists locally who have been involved with some fascinating local excavations and digs particularly

  • Lismore Church and environs
  • Kilbride graveyard
  • Dunollie castle
  • Lephin on Mull
  • isle of Luing
  • Glenshellach, Oban
  • Dunstaffnage farm, Dunbeg
  • To explore some of the local archaeology online there are several really useful resources
